God Wars Introduction


The First God Wars took place during the third age of Gielinor which began 6000 years ago and ended 2000 years ago. Many gods were involved in the First God Wars but the most significant ones were Saradomin, Zamorak, Bandos and Aramadyl. The historical records indicate that the other three allied themselves against Zamorak but the alliance did not last and soon they all turned on eachother. Guthix woke up and brought an end to the First God Wars and thereby he ended the third age. The Edicts of Guthix that were established at the resolution of the God Wars make it impossible for the gods to interfere directly in Gielinor (the world of Runescape).


God Wars Dungeon


The God Wars Dungeon is a members only mini-game that Jagex introduced in mid 2007. The God Wars Dungeon is the location of the final battle field of the First God Wars. When Guthix ended the God Wars he froze the legions of Zamorak, Saradomin, Armadyl and Bandos on the spot and they still stand in the dungeon to this day. The dungeon is located north of Trollheim in the cold and wintry wastelands and it is one of the most dangerous places in all of Runescape because the ice is melting and the armies are in action once again.

The concept of the mini-game is to help your chosen god by defeating his enemies. This is best done by entering their bases and killing their generals. To reach all the way to the generals you must beat monsters of constantly increasing levels as you progress. The strongholds of the gods have different entry requirements and characteristics as well:

*To enter Saradomin's Encampment you need two lengths of rope and level 70 Agility.

*You can enter Zamorak's Fortress without much trouble but once inside you will find that your
Prayer is drained, that no light can penetrate the shadows and that crossing the river requires at least 70 hit points.

*To enter Bandos Stronghold you will need a hammer and at least 70 strength.

*To enter Aramdyl's Eyrie you will need a crossbow, a Mithril grapple and a Ranged level of at least 70.

There is also a frozen door carrying the sybmols of all four gods in the dungeon - a door that can't be opened. However, the inscriptions start glowing when a player carrying the garments, symbol, weapon, armour, pet or familiar of any of the four gods. Could it be that what they were fighting over is behind that door? The legendary Stone of Jas perhaps?

God Wars Dungeon Tricks

If you carry a symbol, garment, armour or weapon of a god you won't be attacked by his legions. Please observe that not all items bearing the god's name will protect you. Only the truly high end items will suffice. You can combine items from several gods to protect yourself from all their legions at the same time. This is very useful when you are in the central area. However, once you enter the strongholds things will get tougher and you can rest assured that the bodyguards and the generals won't let themselves be hindered by your equipment.
